‘Bridge Street Aberteifi’ by Eloise Govier

Eloise Govier brings her exhibition 'Towns and Other Stories' home to Cardigan, the exhibition captures Aberteifi, Port Talbot and Saundersfoot in ways that they have never been seen before; the love the painter feels for these unique areas is evident in the dazzling colour and intimate viewing points of places people love to call home. 'I think of the paintings as contemplative rather than nostalgic, perhaps they are a little wistful, but more in a longing rather than melancholic way. Things are constantly changing, I paint what I see now, I think it's important as it might not always be there'. The vivid, sumptuous colour combinations set the tone, and it is clear that the paintings are buzzing with life and energy.

Dr Eloise Govier began her career in Cardigan in 2008 and has exhibited constantly since that time. Her works are collected globally and she has exhibited both nationally and internationally. She is renowned for her distinctive, energetic paintings with saturated colour use and her academic writing on the relationships between humans and objects in the past and present.
